TIME SPENT IS GAINED
God loves each one of us, no matter what situation we’re in. Even in our sinfulness when we call out for help, our loving Father hastens to our rescue. He doesn’t judge us based on the wrongdoings of our past; instead He holds us close to Him and embraces us with His infinite love and mercy. Have you experienced this love?
The length of our journey here on earth is unknown to us. Each new day that we are blessed with, accounts for 24 hours that are added to our life. Let us ponder upon whether or not we have made any effort to spend at least one percent of this time with the one who blesses us with this gift. We never fail to spend time with our friends and family, to please them and gain their favour. God created us in His own image and likeness, and protects us every second of our life. Some of us fail to remember this. We fail to show our gratitude by spending time with Him in prayer.
When we spend time with our loved ones, our relationship with them grows stronger. Likewise, we should spend time with Jesus for our relationship with Him to grow deeper. When we realise the depth of God’s love for us, nothing in this world can tear us apart from it. Unlike most of our friends, God doesn’t love us because of our wealth, popularity or beauty. No matter what situation we are in, God wants us to be with Him. He thirsts for our friendship and calls us His sons and daughters. He looks at us and tells us, “you are mine”. Caught up in worldly things, we often fail to hear it. ‘For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life?(Matthew 16:26)
Faith is a gift from God. It is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. God our creator and sustainer may not be visible to our human eyes. He has given us wisdom to differentiate between right and wrong, and in His great love, He has bestowed upon us the freedom to make decisions for ourselves. Let us believe that He is the living God. We need God’s grace to avoid sin and all the situations that lead us to sin. In order to attain this grace, we must spend time with Jesus in prayer.
I have heard some people say that they don’t know how to pray. Prayer is just the act of being with God. In solitude, just like you would with your friend, you can share your problems, your happiness and even ask Him your unanswered questions. Take a decision here and now, to spend at least a few minutes each day with Jesus. This will transform you, for He will help you fight the good fight and reward you with eternal life.
Let the hope of eternal life lead us to the foot of the Cross, so that we may experience a joy and peace that is unlike any other we have experienced before. Time waits for no man; so come, let us find some time to spend in the presence of our Creator.
